Every year the Stroke Unit (located on Farley Ward and Breamore Ward) cares for around 350 local people who have had a stroke. Most people affected are over 65, but anyone can have a stroke, including children and even babies. Whilst some patients stay for a couple of days, others will need to spend many months in hospital.
The Stars Appeal works to support stroke patients and enable the doctors, nurses and therapists who care for them to provide the best, most effective treatment.
How the Stars Appeal makes a difference:
- Enhancing the Stroke Unit environment, for example with furnishings, décor and artwork
- State-of-the-art rehabilitation equipment
