Over 1,000 walkers register for Walk for Wards – You can join them too

Over 1,000 people have signed up for our flagship fundraising event, Walk for Wards, at Wilton House this July, and we’re encouraging even more walkers to get involved.

Walk for Wards takes place on Sunday 5th July and participants can walk 3k, 5k, 10k or the more challenging 15k route to say thank you to a ward or department at Salisbury District Hospital that has cared for them or their family, or to celebrate the memory of a loved one.

It is free to enter the sponsored walk. Lunch is provided and everyone is welcome to stay and enjoy the Wilton House grounds after the walk.

Consultant Haematologist and Stars Appeal Ambassador, Dr Tracey Parker, said: “We are delighted that over 1,000 people have already signed up to take part in Walk for Wards this July. It’s fantastic to see such wonderful support from the local community for Salisbury Hospital. We would love even more people to get involved and help us reach our 2,000 walker target. It is a great event for all ages, and every step taken helps us to raise as much as possible to enhance care for our patients and their families.”

Money raised by the sponsored walk helps fund projects across the hospital, including state-of-the-art equipment, enhancements to buildings, and our ongoing projects, such as the Stars Appeal Wi-Fi and support for people with cancer.

Walk for Wards is held by kind permission of Stars Appeal President Lord Pembroke and Lady Pembroke and is sponsored by Salisbury Reds. The event is also supported by Wilton and Salisbury Rotary Clubs, who marshal the event, and many other local people and organisations.

Walkers are asked to sign up in advance and commit to raising at least £20/£50 sponsorship per person (route dependent). Register for free by clicking the yellow sign up button.
