Stars Appeal Fundraising Trek 2028 - 100km Sahara Desert Trek, Morocco

Challenge yourself and support patients and staff in Salisbury Hospital on our fundraising adventure

This is your chance to change your own life, and the lives of patients and the staff who care for them in our Hospital. Our fundraising treks challenge you from sign-up to finish line, as you raise funds for our hospital charity, train and trek with new-found friends, and experience breathtaking scenery and fascinating culture.

Over our six previous treks, trekkers have together raised almost £600,000. They’ve made a huge contribution to the £2million the Stars Appeal needs each year to fund projects like these.

For our seventh trek, we’ve chosen another challenging adventure. This trek is an Instagrammer’s dream: endless views, sunrises and sunsets over golden dunes, camels and campfires and sleeping under the stars. Plus quite a lot of sand!

We’ll be taking on 100km of diverse and demanding trekking – from flat desert floor scattered with ancient fossils, to perfect wind-blown sand-dunes, and salt-pans creating strange mirages. A vast, unforgiving landscape, the desert is a truly beautiful place to discover, while the incredible star-strewn night skies are unforgettable. The walking is hard, and the days are long, but on this trek there are no precarious heights, no steps and not too much chance of rain (but never say never). This has long been one of our travel partner Discover Adventure‘s most popular treks.

Our 2028 trek will challenge you with long, hot days, cold nights in tents and 100km of tough walking on rock and sand.

  • Trek runs Saturday 5th February to Sunday 13th February, 2028
  • Challenge level: Orange 1 (Longer days and tougher terrain are the rule rather than the exception. More moderate days may be offset by living conditions, challenging climate and remoteness)
  • 8-10 hour days (around 6/7 hours walking per day)
  • Guided by Berbers and accompanied by camels
  • Remote night camps
  • Tasty and spicy local food prepared by our Berber team
  • Short-haul flights to Marrakech, Morocco
  • No visa required
  • Fundraising target: £2,000 per trekker
  • Maximum number of trekkers: 35
  • A doctor and at least one UK Guide will accompany this trek.

All trekkers must be 18 years old or over at time of departure, and must submit a completed medical form, signed by a doctor if required.

Training and Fitness: We choose treks that are challenging – whether that’s because of long days trekking, tricky terrain, weather, camping, the difference in culture or something else. Good fitness is vital, and that’s something most people can achieve if they use the Training Plan provided to train well in advance. Please chat with us if you’re unsure if a trek is right for you.
