Local people organise events to help others in hospital

Projects, and patients, around the hospital will benefit from over £100,000 raised by four recent events, organised by local people on behalf of the Stars Appeal.

The Berwick St John Country Fayre welcomed thousands of visitors and celebrated a record year.

All the proceeds from this year’s two-day event came to help specific projects including a £12,000 Cardiac Rotablation Drill which will allow the Hospital’s Cardiac Consultants to treat patients at Salisbury who would otherwise have to travel to Southampton or Bournemouth for treatment.

The Rockbourne Fair commitee welcomed thousands to enjoy three days of shopping at Salisbury Racecourse.

They expect to have raised at least £55,000.

Runners braved heavy rain and a muddy course at this year’s Tidworth 10k, organised by the 1st Mechanized Brigade Headquarters and Signal Squadron (215), to raise even more funds.

And local accountants Moore Stephens hosted a black-tie evening culminating in the regional premiere of Skyfall with all proceeds coming to the Stars Appeal.

We’re hugely grateful for the efforts of all the organisers of these and many other events which help us to make a difference for local people here in Salisbury District Hospital.
